What do we do?

Signal 2 Support is a not-for-profit charity that guides and supports NSW Police Force (NSWPF) officers through the medical discharge process for both psychological and physical injuries. We ensure that no NSWPF officer feels alone, lost, or confused during the discharge process.

Signal 2 Support offers help to officers at any stage of your discharge journey; whether it’s from the moment that you realise you need to put your mental and/or physical health first but don’t know where or how to start, or whether you have already begun the medical discharge process.

Whether the goal is to medically discharge or return to work after an injury, Signal 2 Support will ensure that your recovery is a priority and not an afterthought.

What do I have to do?

The first and often the most difficult step is to reach out for support. By calling, sending a message or an email, Alice will contact you to find out what how we can help you.

We will meet you where you are on the journey so you don't have to do anything that you aren't comfortable with, or ready for.

I think my partner/loved one would benefit from your services, but they aren't ready, what should I do?

Please feel free to get in touch with us to have a chat. This position can be extremely difficult for loved ones, but we need to go at the officer's pace when they're ready.

It is important that the partner/loved one doesn't disclose any information that the officer wouldn't want or has consented to. The path to recvoery and support lies in collaboration, patience and trust.

In the meantime, we offer support for families and loved ones which you may benefit from. Please see more details here.

Do you have support services for family or loved ones?

Very shortly we will launch our online Family Support programme. This will be a place to learn practical strategies as well as feel validated and comforted among people sharing similar experiences.

Do you take money/donations from police, government or insurance companies?

No.

It is important for us to remain independent of the bureaucracy that surrounds the medical discharge process so that our only agenda and priority is your recovery.

You can't put out a fire from inside the house.

How do we source our funding?

We rely on the generous contributions from the community through your donations.

We apply for independent grants (not government grants/funding) and facilitate a number of fundraising events throughout the year.

What if I'm injured but want to return to work, can I still use your services?

ABSOLUTELY! Our only priority is providing you the support that you need to achieve your goals. Whether that is to discharge, or return to work, we are there for you.

How much of my donation actually goes towards supporting injured NSWPF officers?

80% of all donations contribute directly to our A.R.T programmes that provide essential support to our clients.

20% of donations go to our operational costs.

We do not take a salary from any donations.
